About me
Mimi Seney, Ed.M serves as an educational specialist (Special Ed) at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility; Mimi previously served as an instructional coach for San Diego County Office of Education, Juvenile Court and Community Schools specializing in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics). Mimi works directly with teachers (and students) at both Juvenile Halls (Youth Transition Campus (YTC) and East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility). Mimi is in her 16th year as a teacher, credentialed as an Education Specialist (Special Ed/Deaf Education) and has been with the San Diego County Office of Education for 10 years and in Washington state where she taught the deaf/hard of hearing, special education, American Sign Language in K-12 setting, as well as teaching Adult Basic Skills (ABE) at Wenatchee Valley College.
Mimi has served on several curriculum adoption committees, including mathematics, ethnic studies, and English Language Arts and is a member of the SDCOE Asian American & Pasifika Advisory Committee (AAPAC). Mimi is also an ASSETs program facilitator at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility and the Youth Transition Campus (in San Diego) where she facilitates after-school music programs providing instruction in piano, ukulele, and guitar.
