About me
I've had a front row seat to the celebrations, challenges, and crises of our K-12 schools and districts. Since stepping into my first classroom as a new teacher in 2005, I have seen a generation of students pass through our campuses from the busy Bay Area to the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Each year has been a treasure as I counseled and guided students and families through our K-12 systems.
Of all the great resources, opportunities, programs, and support services our schools provide, I have concluded that a wide gap exists between the intended outcomes of K12 programs and the dire needs of our industry workforce. Dr. Kevin J. Fleming, a leading career education advocate, says it best when he proclaims "We must shift our emphasis from traditional academic education to a more holistic approach that incorporates career exploration, practical skill attainment, and career readiness.”
I have been called to provide experienced and forward-thinking leadership to integrate career education and workforce development opportunities in our schools and community colleges to narrow this glaring gap between what our schools are producing and what our workforces need. We do this by unifying our visions, partnering with industry leaders, engaging our communities, strategically planning for success and developing programs that prepare all students to lead healthy, happy, and fruitful lives in the 21st century.
It is time to develop a blueprint for tomorrow! Let's work together to give our children an engaging educational experience focused on career skill development and readiness that excites and prepares them for the future!
