Forming Partnerships to Customize Academic Intervention: Innovative Support through Tutoring. LIMITED
Wednesday May 7, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am PDT
Just as every student's needs are different, so are the needs of every intervention program unique. When we talk about customizable academic intervention programs through tutoring, what does that actually mean and what can that look like?
  • In-person services, virtual or hybrid?
  • Push-in, pull-out, during school, or after school?
  • Focus on one subject area of need or multiple subjects with subject matter experts?
  • What about SEL components and potential mentoring roles?
We'll dive deeper into the tailored models that StudentNest, in collaboration with the Orange County Department of Education and the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, employs to boost student learning and adapt to the ever-evolving needs of students and programs.

WE GOT THIS! Infuse optimism & relevance into alternative education environmental curriculum! LIMITED
Wednesday May 7, 2025 11:20am - 12:20pm PDT
Our overarching primary goal is to maintain relevant, positive and optimistic teaching even in the current environmental climate. How? Come learn about the magic of watersheds as essential ecosystems and universal outdoor classrooms, using the NOAA MWEE teaching platform. We will spend the first half of the workshop running through an accelerated sample Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) focusing on relevant issues in a local watershed. Participants will divide into small group teams to survey/research problems in the simulated watershed, come back together to share results, and then brainstorm positive action projects. The second half of the workshop will have you adapting all four steps of this curricular approach (MWEE) to your own fabulous teaching style and/or unique learners. Equally wonderful, participants will leave with access to a network of other alternative education professionals providing a rich resource of pro-tips, tools, and support. And chocolate.
